Is Wi-Fi dangerous?

Is Wi-Fi dangerous?

It seems that some of the public are still concerned that the radiation produced by Wi-Fi signals may be dangerous to our health.  Perhaps some straight forward data from researchers and a governmental health department can dispel this myth. The unwarranted concerns over Wi-Fi are another example of internet spawned fear mongering from the uninformed.

According to Health Canada and other international regulators there is no known health risk from the low frequency radio waves that are produced by Wi-Fi signals. Health Canada notes that the radiation produced by Wi-Fi in all publicly accessible areas are well below the exposure limits and no precautionary measures are necessary. “The limits specified in the guidelines are based on an ongoing review of thousands of published scientific studies on the health impacts of RF energy.” A number of these studies are available at the Health Canada and the World Health Organization websites.

Although no known link to low level radio frequency energy and human cancers has been identified through extensive scientific research, health regulators such as Health Canada, the World Health Organization and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will continue to monitor research in this area and update any guidelines as necessary.
